v4.0.0

jackson-3

Breaking Jackson 3 release for Spring Boot 4 applications.

Highlights

  • 01

    Jackson 3 by default

The library now compiles against Jackson 3 tools.jackson.* APIs and aligns JSON helpers with Spring Boot 4.

  • 02

    Java time JsonPath support

Typed JSON payload assertions now serialize Java time fields with the library's Jackson 3 mapper instead of failing on LocalDate, Instant, and related types.

  • 03

    Application mapper opt-in

The default mapper is exposed as sharedKafkaTestObjectMapper; set spring.kafka.test.object-mapper-bean-name to explicitly use another Spring Boot tools.jackson.databind.ObjectMapper bean.

  • 04

    Spring Boot 4.0.5 baseline

The library compiles and tests against the Spring Boot 4.0.5 BOM so Spring Framework, Spring Kafka, and related Spring components resolve from the 4.0.5-managed stack.

Full notes

Breaking changes

  • Moved production Jackson usage from Jackson 2 com.fasterxml.jackson.* packages to Jackson 3 tools.jackson.* packages.
  • Replaced Spring Kafka's Jackson 2 JSON serializer/deserializer usage in built-in DTO publishing and typed reading with the library's Jackson 3 serializer/deserializer.
  • Upgraded topic-file JSON Schema validation to the Jackson 3-compatible json-schema-validator line.
  • Raised the compile/test baseline to the Spring Boot 4.0.5 BOM.

Added

  • Added the uniquely named sharedKafkaTestObjectMapper default bean and spring.kafka.test.object-mapper-bean-name for resolving a custom Jackson 3 ObjectMapper bean from the active Spring test context.

Fixed

  • Fixed typed hasJsonPath assertions for payload classes that contain Java time fields.
